One function, many roles
The Textile Product Manager is a complex profile : one has to combine industry-specific know-how with interpersonal skills and creative talents. At ISTA we have integrated all these dimensions in a dense and structured program.
Understanding the various steps of the creative process and identifying the current and future trends in design are part of it. This artistic section is completed with more technical knowledge like, for instance, professional terminology, technology and production processes, new fiber and material development, etc...
The future Textile Product Manager (TPM) also needs to understand the basics of marketing and sales, of retail and distribution strategies while at the same time knowing all about procurement and logistics. These sections of the training are as crucial as the skills to effectively design and implement a collection.
Management and business control are also key components in everyday life at the TPM. Thus they are core to the training program at ISTA and are used in various cases studies and group projects by the students.
