Teaching approach
Action oriented training philosophy
The training is structured in 5 specific modules, implemented through theoretical courses and practical case studies, individual work and group projects.
All teachers and lecturers are professionals from the textile industry who share their knowledge and their experience.
Many projects are built into the program to further develop the students' capacity to work together and in teams and to better understand the group dynamics and the power of communication. Various groups are formed during the 2 years, enabling each student to be a team leader or team member.
Some courses such as marketing, merchandising and collection design are fundamentally based on group work and offer hands-on experience of future situations. Trend-spotting and analysis of fashion evolution over the years give the student an overview of design issues and a better understanding of the various codes embedded, for example, in a prestigious brand name. Pairs are also set up to enable students to work together on style and design and confront their talents and creativity.
Being able to convince an audience, to sell your project, is essential too. Therefore, communication training is part of the core program and many opportunities are offered to students to practice their argumentation and presentation skills.
During the year, the student will spend more than 50 % of the time in a trainee position in a company he or she may choose. In addition to this very practical experience in real life, two major school projects are organised by the students : the "virtual entreprise" project and the "media event". These serve as a main theme throughout the program and develop initiative, audacity and team spirit.
Finally, many contacts and visits are planned, conferences and collaborations are organised with local stakeholders and various textile professionals. In Mulhouse, the Musée de l'Impression sur Etoffes has become a favorite destination for most students. The network of the Textile Campus and the Pôle Textile d'Alsace also support our action-oriented training approach and foster effective relationship-building.
